Who is this course for?
Registered Massage Therapists, massage practitioners, and bodyworkers at any stage of their career. Newer practitioners will find language for things they have already sensed but could not name. Experienced practitioners will find their instincts confirmed and given a clinical framework.

Do I need any background in trauma or nervous system work?
None at all. The course is written practitioner to practitioner and builds every concept from the ground up, including the polyvagal theory and vagus nerve anatomy that most massage training does not cover.

Is this course accredited for continuing education credit
NHPC members can apply this course toward their Continuing Competency Program credits, as NHPC allows members to earn CE credits from any source within their recognized scope of practice. The course is also being submitted to other massage therapy associations and colleges for formal CE recognition, which varies by association and is in progress. If you need confirmation for your specific association before enrolling, please reach out.

What format is the course in?
The course is currently a self-directed study guide: a 45-page illustrated course you can read at your own pace, with diagrams, clinical reference material, printable practice tools, and a self-reflection guide. It also includes a certificate of completion. Video modules and a certificate of achievement are in development.

How long does it take to complete?
About 3.5 hours of self-directed study, though you can move at whatever pace suits you, and the material is designed to be returned to over time.

Will I get a certificate?
A certificate of completion is given for the e-course. A certificate of assessment is given for the upcoming course which includes videos and an assessment.

Does it teach me to work outside my scope of practice?
No. Staying within the massage therapy scope is one of the course's central teachings. It shows you how to support the nervous system responses that already arise in your treatment room using tools that are squarely within your scope, and how to refer appropriately when something falls outside it.

Can I use the client handout with my own clients?
Yes. One of the two printable tools is a client handout you are welcome to print and give freely to your own clients as part of your practice.
